When Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati called Kevin Lewis to come and collect his million-dollar prize, they failed to consider that there may be more than one Kevin Lewis on the gaming floor that day.
But it wasn't until after the wrong Kevin Lewis had collected the prize and celebrated his win on camera that the management suddenly realized they made the wrong man a millionaire.
"There was a lot of similarities between the two gentlemen that led to confusion on our end," casino spokeswoman Jennifer Kulczycki told Cincinnati.com without elaborating. "It was human error."
Horseshore ultimately did the honorable thing and allowed both men to keep their millions, saying the gesture was "consistent with our commitment to do the right thing for our guests."
The company's properties in Cincinnati and Cleveland had initially planned on giving away $6 million as part of its Summer Giveaway to card-carrying Total Rewards members, but given the blunder has decided to increase the total to $7 million.
