Satire in video games? This has never happened ever before. This game is revolutionary. It's post-modern, because, rather than allow a player to experience either simulations of realities they'd otherwise never experience, or imagined, impossible experiences with no real-world counterpart, GTA IV facilitates satire of reality experienced every day! I agree. I don't think it's right, but I also think the idiomatic abuse of "police state" is out of hand. Some people seem to be confused about what a police state actually is and then start forgetting how easy it is to ignore cops with larger than usual weapons. taking a look at North Korea puts things in perspective.

@it takes a train to cry: Calling "police state!" is itself an act of comparison to the least free societies.

@chicagocooper: A lot of people would switch to paper, I'm sure, but it's clear that a lot more people are using reusable bags now than a few years ago. A simple way to encourage their use further would be to charge a small price for disposable bags. Pretty simple, really.

@nardo218: there's conclusive evidence, but it has nothing to do with "BPA is terrible." If anything, I'd say those falling onto the slippery slope of paranoia are to blame for slowly forcing an excellent plastic out of the market when most of its applications are completely harmless.

Hmm. Toyota makes affordable cars that last 989623982 years while retaining a ridiculously high resale value. They've always been at the forefront of hybrid mass-production and their other cars already get great gas mileage. They provide jobs for thousands, and from what I've heard, treat their employees well. WORST COMPANY EVER.

@chicagocooper: That's not quite how it is. The BPA research showing negative effects on adult health is strong, the research on infants and children is almost irrefutable. The problrem, however, is the question of how much BPA leeches from plastic and how much we get from other sources. I've read a number of studies that show citizens of developed nations get the majority of the BPA in their body from DRINKING WATER. Anyway, when infants are concerned, it's best to be safe and use products without BPA. As an adult, just take care of your plastic, realize it doesn't last forever and don't heat it up.

@Git Em SteveDave: lot easier to take footage of something that did happen, without doctoring, and then fib the story. This is more than likely what's happened. Doctoring, no matter how good it is, will be exposed and this is why editing is the preferred trick of posturing nation-states.

To be honest, the only good point in this comments thread countering the authenticity of either the video or the story is "2.) No plane esp. a non-stealth Mig can fly into there airspace without being detected." This is what leads me to believe the UAV was not in Georgian airspace, but not in Russian either (they'd have called foul).

Everything else is speculation from ignorance.
