Too many women grow up with very warped values about their own womanhood, relations with men, about beauty, and they grow up to 'control their own bodies' in a way that fits in very well with society's most negative ideas about women as objects."

Maybe a culture rife with women undergoing surgery to fit some media ideal of beauty, stuffing themselves with botox and silcone, binge drinking and vomiting for fun, anorexia, and in general with an amazing lack of ignorance about 'others' in the world despite a broad access to learning differently. In the American culture, women are treated like objects so strongly that many of them are pushed to use surgical procedures to maintain their sense of value in society."
