Fake News Is Illegal Now

Fake News Is Illegal NowThe Federal Trade Commission is asking federal judges in six states to shut down a total of 10 "fake news websites" that front as credible journalism outlets but really just hype the AMAZING WEIGHT-LOSS POTENTIAL OF ACAI BERRIES ™ !!!!!

You've seen them before: Weird sites like "Consumer 6 Reports" that crudely mimic the look of a news site and relentlessly promote the juicy goodness of acai berries, whatever those are. Only deeply, tragically stupid people could conceivably confuse these sites with, say, their local television news station's web site—but those are precisely the people that the FTC is charged with protecting. So from now on, all news sites must be totally legit and not have any ulterior motives or try to sell anything to anybody, got it?

Almost everything about these sites is fake," said David Vladeck, Director of the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection. "The weight loss results, the so-called investigations, the reporters, the consumer testimonials, and the attempt to portray an objective, journalistic endeavor."

Over to you, Roger Ailes!
