In this first, SFW installment of subscription porn website Broke Straight Boys's online "reality show," adult performer Paul Canon returns to Florida to discuss his sexuality and career with his parents and two brothers. And you thought going home was hard!

This clip is oddly...I don't want to say heartwarming, so I'll say it oddly didn't make me give up on humanity entirely. Canon's family accepts what he does and who he is well enough to engage in a civil discussion about it. The gay-not-gay stuff starts around the 10:50 mark after a long segment about Canon's 2010 overdose. In his presence, Canon's father and brothers argue about Canon's sexuality. "We do gay porn, it doesn't mean that we're gay," Canon says to chuckling from his family.

Canon, wearing a shirt that reads "I'M NOT GAY BUT $1,000 IS $1,000" (fair enough!), says he didn't so much as see another guy's dick in person until his first duo scene in 2012. He has since come to understand himself as bisexual, although he doesn't like that label (or labels in general). Says Canon:

I guess I would be considered bisexual, [but] the reason I don't like labels like that is bisexuality has this negative connotation of being confused, and I'm definitely not confused, I mean, I know what I like. I definitely find women attractive, but then there's certain aspects of men that I find attractive.

Watching his family attempt to wrap their collective head around his sexuality, you can see why he'd have an aversion to identifying as bi.

A much less contentious topic, per this show, is Canon's participation in porn. His mother says that she poked around the internet for about six hours based on a hunch that her son was working in the adult industry. When she uncovered the suspected truth, she says, "It was a big shock and a lot of anxiety, but it is what it is. He's going to do what he wants to do. If that's what it is, then I support him."
