George Zimmerman doesn’t want anyone to know what happened between him, his wife and her parents during a domestic dispute on Monday. The Associated Press reports that Zimmerman tried to destroy an iPad that his wife used to record the dispute, breaking the device into several pieces. (According to the transcript of the 911 call his wife placed, he used a pocket knife.) Police are now trying to determine whether the footage can be salvaged.
Shellie Zimmerman is seeking divorce from her husband, citing his newfound recklessness following his July acquittal in the murder of Trayvon Martin. She originally claimed that Zimmerman had brandished a gun during the dispute on Monday, but later recanted when police failed to turn up a weapon, and eventually declined to press charges against her husband—making her broken iPad’s video evidence, if it can be recovered, that much more important in determining what happened.
