After Carol Costello called Rokita out over the "divisive approach" taken by Republicans to arrive at a resolution that benefits them alone, the lawmaker retorted by "mansplaining" the situation to the anchor.
"I don’t know if you have children yet, I’m sure you don’t have grandchildren yet, you look much too young, but we’re fighting for them," Rokita told Costello. "Carol, do you have any idea how much this law is going to cost?"
Undaunted, Costello retorted, "Do you know how much it costs every day the government is partially shut down? You’re costing taxpayers millions and millions of dollars!"
The two continued to spar over Obamacare — which Rokita called "one of the most insidious laws ever developed by men" — until Rokita shifted into blame-shifting mode, and charged Costello and the media with being "part of the problem."
When Costello dismissed his claim as "too easy," Rokita responded, "Carol, you’re beautiful but you have to be honest as well."
Costello promptly ended their conversation.
