The Secret War Dog Past of Cat Island, Mississippi

In this week's episode, The History Detectives explored the ruins of a secret, WWII-era dog-training facility on Cat Island, Mississippi. Some loopy scientist thought that dogs could be trained to hunt enemy soldiers based on the "scent of Japanese blood."

Check out PBS.org for more secrets, including an amazing interview with a 92-year-old US Army veteran of Japanese descent who was part of the team that attempted to train the dogs.
