Writers We Don’t Really Know Explain Their Tattoos

darcy-steinke-heart-bw.jpgHave you heard? Some authors are totally tatted up! But it's hard to know who, 'cause you obviously can't see tats in headshots. Well, except for Darcy Steinke, who shows 'em off in her publicity photo. But who else is all inked up?

Well, there's Generation Loss author Elizabeth Hand (she actually calls them "tats"). La Dolce Vegan author Sarah Kramer explains:

I, for example, have the word 'unforgiven' with a dagger through it. Its genesis started with the lyrics of a Go-Go's song about unforgiving someone.
And horror-book writer Michael McBride says, refreshingly, that his Atlanta Falcons tats
are strategically placed on my shoulders to cover up the homemade needle and India ink jobs I gave myself when I was 15 or 16. If you look closely enough, you can still see the scarred outline of the Queensryche logo on one shoulder and a heart with a big 'X' through it on the other.
