Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg had a heart stent implanted this morning after doctors found a blocked artery Tuesday.

"The coronary blockage was discovered after Justice Ginsburg experienced discomfort during routine exercise last night and was taken to the hospital," the Supreme Court said in a statement.

The Associated Press reports Ginsburg, 81, is expected to leave MedStar Washington Hospital Center in 48 hours. Ginsburg was appointed to the court by Bill Clinton in 1993.
