Man Saves Himself By Diving Underneath Oncoming Train

For anyone who's had this thought while waiting for a train, what a relief to know it works — a 50-something-year-old man who fell in front of an R train yesterday survived after he dove down into the trough between the tracks.

The train safely rolled over him into Union Square, and he was hospitalized in stable condition with only a bruised left hand.

The man apparently told police he had jumped on the tracks to save a woman, but witnesses said they didn't see anyone else. According to the Post, he's currently undergoing a psych evaluation at Bellevue.
