The brainchild of Marlo Thomas, Free To Be... You And Me was released first as an album in 1972. Its TV incarnation earned an Emmy, and featured Michael Jackson, Dionne Warwick, Kris Kristofferson, Harry Belafonte, Alan Alda, Mel Brooks, and numerous other luminaries in league with the weeping, crooning Renaissance man, in sketches and segments promoting positive values and emotional self-reliance.
