This deserves WAY more lineage.
Does this mean she's off James Kurisunkal's top ten "must meet" list?
Does this mean her despicable son gets all the money?
Do you KNOW he's despicable or do you just repeat what you read in the papers???
@ Gravy Train: I think you're late for the Bancrofts'.
@Gravy Train: Maybe repeating what was written in VOGUE a while back?
Now who will wear those fabulous hats? Who gets custody of them? Surely not the puddin-faced daughter-in-law?
Bergman, Antonioni, Mrs. Astor. In regard to the last, yes, the Four Hundred and the Social Register and New York Society Noblesse Oblige (Let them wear couture) and the Ladies Who Lunch and the Social X-rays (stupid epithet, I don't care who coined it) were all enormous jokes, but, as a New Yorker, they were my standing jokes and part of my birthright.
And now it's over.
WOW. i had no idea she was still alive.
just goes to show you that longevity has nothing to do with productivity.
but god bless her, she was a fine dame.
Exhale.
@Gravy Train:
The Times and Post coverage cited legal and financial documents; Court-appointed trustees' eyewitness accounts and testimony of people in Mrs. Astor's employ. What you got ?
I'd tap that.
I thought this was the daily Julia Allison blog. Oops!
NYC loses another landmark.
God bless you, Mrs. Astor.
