The Tonys were last night, and "Spamalot" and "Doubt" were the big winners. Early overnight ratings are not in yet, though, like all Tonys shows, it was likely viewed by a few thousand people in New York, and four people in Tennessee who thought they were watching Van Helsing.
Billy Crystal also won a Tony for his dark, gripping and violent "700 Sundays," who kept his finger on the pulse by making a joke about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Hugh Jackman hosted again, causing millions to wonder just what happens to all his body hair when he puts on a tuxedo. Honestly: The Tonys just haven't had the same oomph since Cats closed.—WL
