Today, the AP reports Jian Li's response to the Daily Princetonian op-ed that satirized his lawsuit against the university (he charged them with not admitting him because of his ethnicity; he was later accepted to Yale). The op-ed in question, as you may recall, begins "Hi Princeton! Remember me? I so good at math and science. Perfect 2400 SAT score. Ring bells? Just in cases, let me refresh your memories. I the super smart Asian. Princeton the super dumb college, not accept me." Li's response?
I think the article was extremely distasteful," Li said. "Whoever decided to publish it showed an extreme lapse of judgment."We won't go anywhere near the issue of whether the op-ed (co-written by Asian students) was racist, or, indeed, whether it was funny. We'll just point out that it may have been a lapse in judgment on Li's part to offer this particular quote.
Update: Lapse in, lapse of = both right. Whatever, lapse of sounds queer.
