We don't particularly want to jump back into the JT LeRoy fray, but the New York Magazine piece on him is an interesting read, be you critic of JT or dedicated defender. This paragraph, though, deserves highlighting:

Although Eric Wilinski also knew Laura as Emily Frasier, the only other traces I could find of the name are reviews she left on Amazon.com. We Demand a Sequel! she says about Sarah. This is the most extraordinary and lucid book I ve read in a long time.

It's comforting to know that LeRoy, real or no, is not above having his friends/alter egos bump up the Amazon rankings. Even androgynous teenage hustlers of ambiguous origin gotta eat.
