    Political Cartoonist, Meet Satire

20050708mallard.jpgPolitical cartoonists are a special breed. They must bring to work every day a delicate mix of elegant artistry, clever wordplay, gimlet-eyed observation, genuine insight, biting satire, and a refined appreciation for the absurd.

Except, of course, for "Mallard Fillmore" creator Bruce Tinsley.

If you haven't already noticed — and of course you have, because how could you skip a few days of your favorite right-wing reporter-duck? — cartoonist Tinsley spent the past four days taking shots at The Daily Show for "deceiving" people with a fake "Mallard" strip in the fake American-history textbook produced by the fake news show.

And, really, we feel for Tinsley. After all, someone has had the temerity to draw a cartoon mocking his political views. And we can't imagine what sort of people would do such a thing.

Plus, the hook nose on Stewart is a nice touch.

The full run is after the jump.
