Walk into any electronics store in New York and they'll take your picture, type a phony birthdate and social security number on a card, laminate the whole works together, then hand it to you no questions asked. Marianne Garvey of the New York Post thinks this is the sort of ID underaged patrons are using to gain admission to city bars and clubs. If Marianne Garvey really believes this, she may be one of the most naive human beings on the planet. She also thinks you are just as stupid as she is.
The employee passed my form to another worker, who entered all my information into a computer and snapped my picture with a cheap digital camera.Marianne Garvey gets paid to do this. She is very brave.

Naive, indeed: She should realize that teens are only getting fake IDs to vote.
Anyway, I didn't get to Page 19 in the Post today -- I'm still enjoying the "Manholes explode in Village" headline on Page 3.
off the subject...
Hey, I love lesbians just as much as the next guy, but the ultra-violet-hot-pink "L-Word" banners are dryin' out my contacts. Okay, I get it, I'll watch the show (just for Pam Grier, okay, Jennifer Beals too).
Rick Kaplan is being turned over to Iraqi authorities today for hanging. Wait to see how much shit comes out when they drop the floor out.
Next up: college students under age 21 often get drunk, despite there being laws against it!
So, THAT'S how you get a fake ID! Thanks, NY Post!
I can see a whole series done by Marianne. There could be one on how easy it is to buy a term paper online, how drinking exists on colleges despite emails to mom and dad stating the contrary, and perhaps she could commit a petty crime then swear she didn't do it. She'd be lying to the cops and how easy/sweet it would be to do so!
Someone get this woman a spot on Dateline or Primetime where her investigative skills can truly be appreciated!!!
I'd like to make a joke, but feel I must be sincere.
So two women get killed AFTER going to clubs by one person who is a bouncer/psycho and another person who is a fake-taxi-driver/psycho and fake IDs would do what exactly?
I'm all for regulating certain aspects of nightlight to protect people, but it's pretty pathetic that the best that can be done is punish 17-year-olds who want a drink.
I mean it's not like bouncers should be pre-screened before hiring, or there are laws regulating gypsie cabs that aren't being enforced, right? RIGHT!
One time I Western Unioned 125 dollars to this guy in India to make me a fake ID. Six months later, I received a laminated photo of myself the size of a picture postcard, and cried myself to sleep because by that time I was already twenty one.
I now realize my mistake. I should have just moved to New York.
The weird thing is that I think she looks older (at least according to the pic in the print edition of the Post) than the age she claims in the article.
My friends and I were out last night and were approached by a reporter from the Post doing a story about underage drinking. First of all if we were underage do you really think we'd talk to you? Although she should have used the info we gave her...would have made for an infinitely more intersting article
Naive indeed.
Someone should inform Marianne it's time to call the fairies; her unicorn is double parked.
Wow. I never needed a fake ID when I lived in NYC at 19. I was never asked, anywhere.
