TODO is one daily thing recommended for you, by us.
Up until pretty recently we were on a two-year-plus hiatus from drinking coffee. Prior to the hiatus, we'd had a pretty intense habit involving Olsen-size cups of black extra-acidic Starbucks brew, and it was doing a number on our stomach and our brain. Our doctor actually advised taking a timeout. The initial withdrawal was rough (like, hysterical sobbing for no reason rough — did you know that caffeine is a mood stabilizer? It's true!) but when it was over, we found that our energy levels were more consistent throughout the day, our sleep patterns were better, and it was actually easier to get out of bed in the morning! We drank tea still, sure. But we were feeling extremely good about our coffee-free lifestyle for a nice solid chunk of time there. Then we started at Gawker. The first couple of days were okay. The third day was bad; the adrenalin was starting to wear off. On the fourth day we were on our second latte by 10. The dark beast had won out.
At this point, we started looking for a way to up the intensity, but, as mentioned, we didn't want to dip into anything that required a prescription. Luckily, that's when a new coffeeshop opened around the corner from where we live with a sign in its window proudly proclaiming that it served "Raven's Brew: The Last Legal High." We promptly investigated.
It turns out that Raven's Brew is the best coffee in the entire world. We'd like to note here that we haven't gotten ANY schwag from anyone who we've written a TODO about yet and if this could be where it begins, that would be really great. Really Raven's Brew should sponsor us, like how USPS sponsors Lance Armstrong and Wonder Bread sponsors that guy in that Nascar movie. We would happily wear a Raven's Brew t-shirt (whenever our handmade "TODO is a preachy and irritating feature" t-shirt is in the wash, that is) if it meant a free unending supply of the stuff. It's potent but not so much so that it gives you the shakes and it tastes SO GOOD, not bitter or acidic at all, just like the platonic ideal of how coffee should taste. You can order some here! Are you listening, Raven's Brew sales reps? The Gawker office is located at 89 Spring Crosby Street (see? we need coffee!!!). Please show up with a soy latte any minute now; it's been a while since our last dose and we're fading fast.
