I was totally waiting to come to his defense, anticipating an email that was more formality than anything else. "Thanks for hosting me. If you need anything, please call." But that was pretty freaking bad. I know how he got there though.
As much as he may enjoy philanthropy, it's the access to power and celebrity that he really needs. Very common in first generation money. They've arrived at economic success, but the social barriers to the elite are still there. Philanthropy became a good way to get that social access. The downside is that you start to value your access to power more than money or even your own conscience.

Ethics are funny things. There is a perfectly ethical reason to make 911 calls public record. It gives us an important tool in government oversight. It reveals how effective emergency services are, whether they are being dispensed in an equitable manner, whether they are discriminating against people or ignoring certain crimes.
For all the embarrassment or anguish releasing some calls may cause, many, many abuses of power and negligence have been discovered.

Unlike a purely political movement, evangelicals can't simply decide to change their platform on social issues. They believe and preach that the bible is the word of God. True and unchanging. Flipping on gay marriage basically admits that they are full of shit.

Bingo. My best friend in college went on antidepressants and it completely screwed her up. Became totally manic.
That said, this student might also have some narcissistic tendencies. Especially since she sent a mass email including the dean ad professor responses.
I feel bad for her. Colleges don't always handle mental illness well. In the aftermath of my friend's suicide attempt in college, I completely crashed. I was seeing a college counselor every other day, but still skipping classes and hiding in my dorm. Spoke to my dean multiple times, but it was 8 weeks before they showed up one day and told me I either had to be off campus that day for a medical leave or be expelled. No warning at all. I was 8 hours from home. I slept in my car for a week. The dean offered to let me sleep on his lawn in a tent. I wish I had told him to go fuck himself. I think I just cried.
There's already a market for Black Americana which is overtly racist by today's standards, but much of which has artistic and historical merit and value much like some early cartoons.

1) Paypal allows the use of the donate button even if the recipient is not a registered non-profit. Artists, You Tube accounts, software developers use the button all the time.
2) She followed their instructions, refunded all the money and changed it to a "purchase" or "buy now" option. Essentially allowing you to purchase a gift for a family. They then found issue with that too and forced her to refund everything again. Again keeping their transaction fees.
