<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on The NY Times Joins the Rest Of The World in Loving Goofy You Tube Dance Video]]> @curlyqtips: Jeez, calm down! I'm not saying that this actual video is a viral for something corporate-I'm saying that inevitably it'll be picked up. That's all! Never pointed the finger! Not once!

And don't call me honey. Arseface sure, but not honey.

<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on Disabled Models Compete In New Reality Show]]> @katekate is squared: Yeah, fetishistic much? Between the Nip/Tuck intro and the close-up's on various body parts, literal objectification is the name of the game here. A whole scene of Cronenberg's Crash flashed before my eyes there.

I really hope I'm wrong though. It really is lovely. I just don't think anything is sacred anymore. At all.

But while it was just what it was, it was lovely.

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on Thoughts About Thinking & Drinking]]> @ilikenoise: Sounds like a very busy evening! I'd definitely go. If only to ind people to laugh hysterically at.

@freestylewalker: I don't disagree with anyone 'slamming it' because I genuinely think the whole evening was a fiasco but I think that it was doomed from the start to be honest. Winstead must have known that. And she bloody well played up to it. I completely disagree that she looked 'sick' or 'baffled', on the contrary, to me she came across as smug and obnoxious. I wasn't there however and you were so I have to defer to your experience.

No doubt about it, Tracie and Moe acted like bloody idiots but Winstead was the bloody panel moderator. The fact that she directed the topics in the way she did makes her utterly reprehensible and it's for that reason that I just find her piece appalling.
I think everybody involved should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves but Winstead's actions were despicable. Especially considering her piece was published days later.

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on Thoughts About Thinking & Drinking]]> @tell Dolly Parton again: I know, it's horrific. And I read it every day because I'm a complete masochist. There's absolutely nothing you can say on it in relation to women and film without being ripped to shreds for the sole reason that you happen to be female. Then he posts a picture of his new kitten called 'Mouse' and the fact 40% of his family dies over the last year and well, what the hell can you say?

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on Bulls And Withdrawal Strategies]]> @BadenBaden: Excuse me? I'm not jumping to anyone's 'side'. Winstead was completely out of line and I'm very well aware of the show, the background and what exactly happened that night, thank you very much.

@d.ham: I never said the questions would have been a 'shock' to anyone, or that she cornered either of them. Which makes it all the more reprehensible that Winstead took the stance she did, considering the state Tracie and Moe were in.

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on Thoughts About Thinking & Drinking]]> @RomanaTwo: I know. I just can't believe her piece. Did anyone else read it? You can practically hear the 'Tsk, tsk' as she writes. It made me nauseous, frankly. As does she now. This may be the article that make me start my new blog (SIGH) in order to call her out.

Also, fucking JEFFREY WELLS of Hollywood Elsewhere [hollywood-elsewhere.com]
wrote an entire post about the whole thing and the comments on his blog just made me alternately cringe and get even more depressed.

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on Thoughts About Thinking & Drinking]]> @ronaldpagan: Me too. We all do love to talk though, that's the problem!

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on Thoughts About Thinking & Drinking]]> I jumped on the tail-end of the last thread but I just want to reiterate how unbelievably irresponsible and just plain stupid Winstead presented herself to be. Tracie and Moe really could have stepped up to the plate and called her on it and that's what pisses me off more than anything.

Winstead on the other hand gives 'Machiavellian' a whole new meaning. I can't get away from the feeling after reading her blog piece about it that she was dying for this to happen.
The whole thing was just a fiasco and all that remains to be said is, when do we get a do-over?!

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on Online Marketers Want To Spy On Your Private Moments]]> @Ummwhat: Same here. Except switch the bathing suits for lizards and Target for ' Wackers Pet Shop ' . W hat?!

<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on Bulls And Withdrawal Strategies]]> @Calraigh: It may be the morning but for Christ's sake, SPELLCHECK your posts in future, k?

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on Bulls And Withdrawal Strategies]]> @SinisterRouge: She was the moderator and host of the panel and she should have known better than to lead the discussion into inevitably inflamatory areas. 'Thinking and Drinking' is not where I expect serious issues to be discussed seriously. Anybody who went there expecting same should feel a little ridiculous. Tracie and Moe if anything, were only showing up how ridiculous LizzWotsit's stance was.

I don't agree with Tracie on a lot of things but Jesus Christ, what fucking moderator raises the issue of rape, on an ostensibly 'comedic' panel and then criticizes the panelists for not taking it seriously enough?
Her write-up about it just makes me inutterably depressed.

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on Bulls And Withdrawal Strategies]]> @bowleserised: Lizz Wotsit( which is what I'll forever refer to her as, thanks for that) was a complete tool in that interview. If you're going to host a panel called, '' Thinking and Drinking '' cop on and treat it as such. Not a feminist summit. She was completely irresponsible in my opinion and I suspect that the response was completely engineered. If theres' a culprit here, she's it.

<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on More New Joker-Isms From The Dark Knight]]> The Dust Brothers have also re-worked the XF theme and their song 'Broken' is on the soundtrack too. It's brilliant. Believe it or not Xzibit's track is great too. A sentence I never thought I'd utter!

Anyway there's 30 second samples of the score on Amazon and I think it's fair to say Mark Snow has made a masterpiece.

<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on The Fake Intelligence Organizations and Spy Networks of Science Fiction]]> @Annalee Newitz: '' Their inevitable intention was to join forces with the Colonists. ''

That's what I wrote, which is how the original narrative played out.In the script and on the screen.
You wrote, ''.. basically... they were trying to fight alien invaders. ''

Contradicts what you wrote which was, in my opinion, wrong and dare I say it a little lazy. I'm sure I sound like a pedantic, ''whiny '', pathetic, nerdlinger lunatic bitch but God is in the details. That's all I'm saying.
I don't mean it personally, I didn't want to drag this out I just saw an incorrect post and I thought I'd point it out. Again, I apologize if you took offence. I'm an avid reader of yours, cross my heart, 'ope to die.

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on The Fake Intelligence Organizations and Spy Networks of Science Fiction]]> @elizamulcahy: I never said or expected the post to be a 'detailed analysis' of the Syndicate. I expected it to be correct. There's a huge difference.

'' What is it about scifi that causes lunacy? ''

Who's being '' rude and whiny '' now? I, quite rightly criticized the author of the post. The last time I checked, that was still a permissible act. My criticism may offend you but it's not cause for accusations of lunacy.
You must have a pretty great view up there on your high horse, do ya?

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on The Fake Intelligence Organizations and Spy Networks of Science Fiction]]> @Lizzie24601: I don't actually expect anyone to remember any of the details. I just expect people who write about it to.
That's all!

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on The Fake Intelligence Organizations and Spy Networks of Science Fiction]]> @Annalee Newitz: Their inevitable intention was to join forces with the Colonists to develop a vaccine for the human race but to ultimately save themselves. However they later divided into factions because as I said previously, they were all 'shades-of-grey' characters. It was always meant to be a play on words in relation to the extra-terrestrial narrative and the fact that they all had traded family members as collateral. Therefore none of them was objective about their ostensible 'mission'.
That's really it. I'm actually not a pedant at all, I just think if there's actually a plot there, it should be described accurately.
I'll back down now, I promise ;)

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on Hollywood 4% Filthy Richer]]> @VirusWithShoes: Virus, if there is a real paradise, you may just have described it. The world will never be big enough for one as beautiful as you. Or something.

What shall we sing though? I'm pretty familiar with damp pastures in late summer but composing hymns in reverence of a former fictional red-haired FBI agent, not so much. You start. I'll make some banana sandwiches and fill up the flasks.

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on The Fake Intelligence Organizations and Spy Networks of Science Fiction]]> @elizamulcahy: While your contribution was similarly scintillating!

Oh and Eliza? I'm a whiny fangirl, just so y'know, you can moan about me gender-specifically. K?!

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on The Fake Intelligence Organizations and Spy Networks of Science Fiction]]> @Annalee Newitz: I didn't call you lazy and misinformed, that was in reference to your piece. C'mon, as a writer you should recognize this when it happens!
I never said it was a piece 'about' the X-Files. I didn't query the amount of 'time' you gave it.That's a complete overreaction on your part.In my opinion of course.
My criticism pertained to your summation of what The Syndicate was ostensibly about. It's misinformed, something which is easily rectified, surely, no?
I certainly never expected you to 'unroll' the entire series' plot. I simply expected an accurate synopsis of the subject in question! It's really not too much to ask but apparently it's irrelevant in this case.

I apologize if I offended you and you thought I was being 'uncool' but being called out on something so obviously minor shouldn't be a big deal. Now it seems to be!

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on The Fake Intelligence Organizations and Spy Networks of Science Fiction]]> @Annalee Newitz: Em, I read your post and it's lazy and misinformed. You're just trotting out the same ol' guff about the the mythology in an effort to pad out a piece. You did indeed say,

"Originally they banded together to fight a group of aliens who wanted to colonize Earth using the black cancer, or black oil."

I'm not arguing this. I'm arguing the fact that you've summarized this entire narrative with this one plot point, and left out the actual narrative.

The fact that you don't realize this gives me even more reason to be disappointed. Then again, I'm honestly not really that surprised in this instance!

]]>
<![CDATA[Calraigh commented on Hollywood 4% Filthy Richer]]> @not.a.clever.name: Oh no doubt at all she'll do a good job; she's incredible and one of, if not my favourite actress. It's just that she does a lot of stuff that's essentially low-budget,low-profile and Anglocentric that never crosses over Stateside, which is a real shame. I'd love this to be, if not a big-budget production( although that always helps)a much anticipated one at least. The more Anderson, the better, imo.
