At this point, a pretty good way of clearing out the deadwood at Yahoo that only cares about options and cash would be to do a company-wide poll of who is disappointed that they didn't take the MS offer and fire everyone who was. This will leave the people who want to fight and win.
I somehow doubt the problem with the YouTube acquisition was the transition of the backend systems. I suspect the difficulty lies more with the transition of the fact that YouTube bleeds money.
Why is this seen as unreasonable and entitled? There's no job security anymore today, so taking a salaried job is a sucker's bet - there's nothing to gain and everything to lose. Either you go with a company that will offer you a piece of the upside, or you start your own business. Otherwise you're just trading away your time to an employer who's unlikely to show you any loyalty when times get hard.
