Thanks for your honesty. We all have thoughts like this occasionally, and I don't believe anyone who says they don't. We are all products of the racist, sexist, homophobic world we've been born into. The fact you noted it when it happened and feel bad about it says more to me about your character than the initial thought itself (which I see as a kind of 'involuntary' throwback.) I think we can, and should, see our lives as one long work-in-progress; as soon as you settle and stop learning, you're dead from the neck up, far as I'm concerned.
Missed this whole episode due to an intense period of work. Just dropped by to say I agree with the majority here - the original post was a disgraceful mistake; but the update is not only incorrect (of course it is possible to report this story without these images) and contradictory (blurring them), but intellectually insulting to your readers. The next time Jez posts an article criticizing a rival magazine or blog for lack of integrity, I will remember this post.

Yeah, it use to be better, in many ways. I miss Hortense and the community feeling of those days. It's cruder, less witty, less informative, less thoughful now. They could do a Midweek Madness take-down on themselves quite easily.
