OMFG, your "countersue for the exact amount in his cash fan" comment about the Craigslist player should garner you a commie, or a star, or a firm pat on the back. Laughed tears of joy.

Oops, can you erase that, I meant to make it private. Sorry!

I think the place in SI *is* L'Amour--New York Dolls did a show there recently. I think. I've only been to Staten Island twice in my ten years in NYC.

You must be referring to the late/mid ninties (ugh, Screeching Weasel and Bouncing Souls--head/wall), during which a lot of crap music was released and Blink 187 was considered "punk". I knew a few kids from the NYHC scene from the Bronx (Woodlawn, I think) who I hung out with at ABC No Rio and I think some lived at C squat. We all got old, got real jobs and lost touch. Hopefully some of them eventually took a shower.

I actually discovered Dragonforce during a trip to the Jersey Shore where my friend enthusiastically put it on while we sat on the beach and woke up to discover everyone had migrated as far away from us. I had no idea they were on the new Guitar Hero--I've only finished the first one and never did the rest.

Are you still in the city? In the Bronx?

Wait, you played in the Bronx? Isn't the last metal venue left in the city somewhere in Staten Island (and, groan, the god-awful BB Kings)? I've been listening to a lot of Pantera, Carcass, Eyehategod, and Napalm Death when I go running in McCarren park, but I end up running too fast and almost kill myself. If you like prog I'm sure you've heard of Dragonforce-the most sincere yet ridiculous band ever. I watched Headbangers Ball recently and it made me sad--so many ballads! So much emo pansy crooning. The kids are lost.

Sorry to talk your ear off, 99% of people I know have zero interest in this stuff.

Dude! (uh wait, you're a guy, right?) What band were you in? I now have to dig up pictures where we went at Immortal for Halloween. Corpse paint is a bitch to put on right.

from the list:

"Max Barry, Craig Clevenger, Douglas Coupland, Mark Danielewski."

I desperately need to get off critical theory, so these would help drastically.
