You're not reading a book if it's taking you more than two weeks to finish it, right? I mean that's what Philip Roth said (it is so good to know that guy is still alive). So if you're writing a non-fiction book and it's been nine months...I don't know. Maybe you're spending too much time making shit up, albeit that's alright, because the truth is always boring.
