Having not seen the movie myself, it's hard to tell. The trailer clearly indicates Winslet gets sick, and it's not especially shocking to find out she dies. Having that suspicion verified though is a tad disappointing.
The idea that a person in a room by him or herself with a pen and paper can commit an act that's comparable to that of violating a child is insane to me. Way to find a way to become even less cool in two weeks, Canada.
By all means, the buzz I'm hearing is that the movie did unexpectedly well and beat what even most analysts predicted. The analysts that predicted anything in the $60 mil range? Well, to be frank, they're the ones that aren't performing very well, otherwise they'd have had a more accurate estimate more inline with their colleagues.
