Yeah...I'm pretty much gonna trust the guy who was actually up in the air on this one.
Bored is as bored does.
@Unsolicited Advice: So the point about them giving materially false information about the fund selection is not important? It seems to me that if instruments like this are going to have a chance at working in the future there needs to be at least a tiny bit of integrity to them (ie no lying). But I'm not an expert in these matters. Care to enlighten?
Everytime I see her in Sparkly Patriot (tm) Costume, I am compelled to think of Nana Mae Frost. [images.allmoviephoto.com]
@lostarchitect: I hear there's even a system whereby they can get these so-called "warrants" really fast, like in an hour, for national security purposes!!!
I love public conversation about politics. As in real strangers discussing real time the real impact political choices and debates are having. It's something missing from our public life. Our cultural life is so designed to consume that the muscles of opinion and debate are seriously atrophied for most of us. So it's exciting to hear this non-elected famous person, one known more for her nonsensical speeches where she is never held to account for factual inaccuracies, suddenly propose we test and debate those assertions with real people. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant idea. I have a list of real, beneficial results from having Barack Obama as president for 15 months ready. Who wants to chat?
Andrea Steele? Really? Oh boy.
Richard, will you start writing all of the news I'd like to read? Something happened in Health Care somewhere and I'd like a rewrite.
@AtwaterAlucard: For the record, I would pass it up. I don't like watches or jewelry, and I have enough bath stuff. I have a digital camera I'm happy with. I'm good. Giving away luxury items is a waste of resources, and only feeds into the idea that our culture runs on scarcity, not abundance. As in I must get my own, because there isn't enough to go around. And, I'd ask that they take my money right to Haiti and keep their stuff.
But three copies of Time Cop for $9.99! How can you resist?
@lobstr: He F***ing Got This.
@lostarchitect: I know a few architects who are doing ground up with professional certification, almost out of protest. If the DOB is going to take zero responsibility in their review, then why have them review it at all? I'm just not surprised this particular project is professionally certified.
@lostarchitect: Architects are responsible for compliance with nyc building code whether or not the project is professionally certified. This was confirmed by a court case in the mid-2000s. So many architects I know have skipped this review process entirely, particularly for additions or renovations. This is hardly an indictment of the architect.
@knyne: Hearted. I think it's time someone got a star.
In my experience this is usually what lazy people say when someone who is ambitious and motivated is in action about something they love. I don't know if that's the case here, but this is such a generic thing people say when they are confronted by success that it's not really useful information.
@iplaudius: Not to mention that the rumor has already been exposed as completely false by von Kuersteiner himself. Queens!
@Spirit Fingers: You could do it, you just need practice. She is super-present with each person, really looking at them and being with them, and then she says the right thing.
@OrneryBabe: Vote Gillibrand and lobby her to go left.
