Indeed, after all the sell side broker dealers have been pretty much wiped out, there is a significant opportunity for the private equity and hedge fund shops to move into the Investment Banking arena once things settle down, and the brave new financial world shakes out in 5-10 years. Are all those investment bankers and prop traders going to want to work for a depository bank that caps leverage at 10-to-1? "Eff that shit." Who needs regulated public markets, when you can have new private markets accessible by the super-rich?"
