"The fact is that this cover has now received an audience WAY beyond The New Yorker's readers, and that audience "don't know satire." If the purpose of a New Yorker cover is to make you think (as I belive it is), these people are now thinking, "do I really want to see that couple in the Oval Office?" While I do agree that we should not curtail intelligent discourse because the vast majority of people will minsterpret it, I also believe that this cover will do much more harm than The New Yorker ever even anticipated."
