You get paid to do this? Seriously?
I don't know about you, but I find Kara hilarious. She reminds me of talking to my mom who often provides a high level of insightful ribs regarding the conversation of the day.
He didn't say they were cash-flow positive, he said they had cash from revenues. Very different things.
Funny... We considered building PornTank for a while after we had so much success with PhishTank.
It must be a slow news day when you have to resort to making it up...

If they are hiring Adrian it's because of Django, not because of Google News or Chicago Crime.
My issue arrived in the mail today and it does not have anything e-ink of the sort. Just a plain old magazine cover. Way to treat their subscribers right... Lame.
@michaellamb - It has a new JS engine, it will support browser extensions, etc. The rendering engine is WebKit, that's true. But with the AJAX/JS world apps are being written in, it's definitely not a 1:1 supported replacement for app developers writing code that works in Safari.
@keymaster -- You are wrong. Idiot.
@Owen Thomas -- Agreed. It'd be different at an early-stage VC. Those deals still happen (and even weirder things) and they always make me take pause.
First -- Insight isn't a typical VC, so I'm not sure what sggrf is talking about. All my interactions with them have been extremely positive and it's clear the partners and teams there care deeply about understanding the industries and companies they work with. They are probably more high-touch than most large-size equity firms, but that can be helpful to a lot of companies. Actually, that can be helpful to just about all companies if managed properly.

Second -- It's highly unlikely that any of the LPs would leak this story because it's in their best interest for Insight to get the best possible deals they can. Tarnishing their name would do them a disservice. You would also expect people operating at that level to be slightly less emotional and act more professional.

Third -- Nothing about this deal seems inappropriate. A $3 million dollar investment in a fledgling $0 revenue company is NOT even close to the kinds of businesses that Insight invests in as far as I'm aware.

Wait, Mike's not gay?
Whatever happened to "Don't shoot the messenger?"
The lack of clue in this post is heavy.

Except from Ted "PressFail" Dziuba, he's still mostly awesome.

@mrfomoco We'll have cupcakes. How's that? Oh, and based on the RSVP list I just saw, there might be more women than men at this nerdfest. Shocking, I know. :-)
Oh, and PS -- Childs didn't bring down the network. He just didn't hand over the keys to his bosses (which he has since done, to Newsom).
If Terry Childs shows up, we will salute him as an honorable SysAdmin of the Year. Agree or Disagree, he definitely took his job seriously and was the most well-known SysAdmin of the year.
Of all the idiotic crap videos Nick Douglas makes, this one sucks the least.
Diane, think maybe you should update your photo on SFist.com? You know, the one where you are wearing a striped shirt.
