i had the pleasure of meeting this one not too long ago. while i actually wholeheartly support her platform - i think prostitution should be legalized (hey, let's get real, most of us act like un-paid whores at least once in our lives; let's commend the ones who do it right but help them and keep them healthy and sane and TAX it to help the State's bottom line), she is a bit "out to lunch". while i don't think she's all that harmful (and i do not think she has any substance abuse problems as normally plague the sex industry) - i do think she enjoys controlling the women in her midst. and that is what scares me. whores should be independent contractors - not have a pimp OR madam to see them through.

i do not know enough about this case to pass any judgement, so i am not passing judgment on this girl. however, i do know quite a few other girls from my college days who did consent to these videos (right in front of my eyes - why they only asked me to be on MTV is beyond me) but they knew damn well what they were doing. they were a bit tipsy, yes, but the next day they fully remembered doing so. i am not in the joe francis corner here, but i do think more women than not who say they objected to this knew what they were doing and only later cop to "being drunk" when confronted with reasonable people at home. it's a damn shame a douche like joe and co. are preying on them, but most who are coherent do know what's going on. i witnessed it firsthand.

part of me thinks she is just a crazy junkie who needs to sell books/garner attention (hell, her own sister had to get her own spread in US Weekly over this story this week....makes you wonder what kind of support she has ever gotten from her family)
but the other half of me just cannot believe someone would make all this up. i think she finally went to rehab (after last year's embarrassing arrest) and is finally admitting why she has been so fucked up.
but seriously, is this cathartic? i don't think so. i think it's a small piece of a very sad puzzle. this poor woman will never be healthy and normal - because of her own actions and because of the actions of BOTH of her parents. it's tragic as all hell.
