"Born in the USA," the song, was originally recorded for Nebraska, the album. This was the original version that would have been on Nebraska. I think his point comes across a little clearer in this version.
Listen to this version and see if you feel the same way.
From Sparky's Homemade Ice Cream's Facebook page on May 31:

"There's already a lot of buzz around town about our next flavor. (Hint: it's a deafening, omnipresent buzz...)"

That town, by the way, is Columbia, MO (where I went to school and never ate a cicada).

How about a Tom Cruise reboot of Cocoon? Not making this up: Next year Cruise will be the same age that Wilford Brimley was (49) when Brimley shot Cocoon.
Real question: Let's say we see it supernova tomorrow. Since it's 600 light years away, wouldn't that mean it blew up around 1410? Maybe I'm wrong? It's just weird to talk about an event happening soon that *may* have already happened. Or do I have this all wrong?
From a Vulture interview last week with the guy who plays Desmond, talking about a scene currently being filmed, "what they're shooting now has been really physically demanding. There's a lot of wetness and a lot of bruises. I think the stunt work is going to be pretty cool."
I grew up in Missouri and the elementary school I attended (in the mid-1980s) paddled. In third grade a friend of mine, Jimmy Dwyer, and I were being loud in the hallway on the way to lunch. An art teacher named Don Henley (I was young, at one point I thought it was *the* Don Henley) took us into the Principal's office, who, I think, was off that day. He told Jimmy and me that we had two choices: (A) receive three "swats" each or, (B), he never wanted to see us together again. Jimmy looked at me, trying to hold back the tears, and said he would take the "swats." I looked back at Jimmy and told him that it was nice knowing him -- I wouldn't even sit near him on the bus. About a year later, Don Henley was giving "swats" and and wound up breaking a kid's arm that reached back to try and stop the paddle. I have no idea whatever became of Jimmy Dwyer. If you're out there, Jimmy, I still think I probably made the right choice.
Clarence Clemons has said he's having back surgery right after this current two-year-long tour ends next month and the E Street Band will be on hiatus for at least two years (maybe for good). So there's that, too. #giantsstadium
When a movie like this one comes out I always look when it was filmed. This started shooting in July... of 2007. Never a good sign when a film doesn't involve state of the art special effects. I'm going out on a limb and assuming this one does not include state of the art special effects.
Fox to reboot Fantastic Four: Sure the film series is only a decade or so old... Or, more like four years. The first Fantastic Four film came out in 2005. Not sure where ten years is coming from.
@ceilingFANBOY: Just make sure not to do that in the driver's seat. You can still be charged.
@Ken Green: I have. Try more like 150 minutes. That was a pretty big spoiler, though.
"Hollywood studios failed to hoodwink the moviegoing public into seeing recent stinkers like G.I. Joe and Brüno." What? I'll give you Brüno but G.I. Joe has made, as of today, $198,024,658 worldwide and Paramount just greenlighted a sequel. So, I think in this case, the hoodwinking didn't fail.
Riggio traveled to the Woodstock festival but had a bad time then, too. "He said it was one of his worst experiences because of the rain and bad accommodations," Did anyone watch Bill Maher's New Rules on Friday? He wanted someone to actually admit they had a terrible time at Woodstock. Bill Maher, meet Vincent Riggio.
Hi Grant, I read the excerpt in Sports Illustrated and found it fascinating. My question is: Obviously this book was written before the recent skirmishes with fans in L.A. and in K.C. Could you have predicted the fans' scorn -- with what appears to be, possibly, league wide -- this season against Beckham?
@PhyrePhox: I prefer #2. (Though, I've really had neither happen. If #1 happens, usually the publicist makes up a good reason.) Most often, if they're not into it, you just get a lot of one or two word answers (only had this happen a couple of times). I'd prefer #1 or #2 over one word answers.
@snugbug: Are you sure? I relistened, it sounded like the quote in the post is correct.
@MisterHippity: Really? So every sarcastic written clearing of my throat has been wrong all these years?
Almost as bad? He used the term "deep-seeded." Ahem, it's "deep-seated," Glenn.
