The logo persisted on parts of their cars into the 80s at least. I always liked it.
As for all the WWII references, it was 65+ years ago. Germany and Japan have become two of the most progressive and responsible countries on the world stage. America, for its part, still can't reconcile the horrors of slavery. Not to excuse any atrocities committed but for a people that supposedly believe in the power of redemption, we can be hypocrites. We really shouldn't throw stones.
Agreed. I don't drink the stuff but they sponsor a hell of a lot of motorsport and do amazing things like this. It almost makes me wish I liked drinking chemical-based energy drinks.
I saw PMPNHOS when I lived in Va but they rejected 2DYKES at the same time. I think they are just really dim about different ways of being nasty
I didn't think I would find a band to supersede my hatred for Pomplamoose anytime soon but 10 seconds of this did the trick.
I am hoping karma really does a number on them for unleashing more cutesy shit into the world.
I believe all yellow curbs in NY are painted unofficially. I think the city does not actually use them. People paint them to scare you off. You then have to weigh whether or not the person who painted the curb is now going to get mad and bust your windows. NY does suck to drive in. I avoid Manhattan but it's still a pain in the ass. I have my reasons though.
Another thing is that coverage of races here in the states involves endless commercial breaks. SpeedTV is unbearable most of the time. You start getting engaged with what's going on and then they cut to a commercial. I watch MotoGP religiously but I pay for their streaming service because the difference in coverage is huge.
I think too many people think the cars look effeminate too. Great swaths of Americans have problems with cars that aren't thunderous and growly and macho.
If you dig Nascar then power to you but I find it deathly boring personally. I also hate how crashing and contact is sanctioned and celebrated.
Maybe it's all just cultural differences in the end.
I actually second this. I love Japanese cars but Honda started everything with the bike mania.
I guess showing a nipple is old hat by now.
What's she communicating? She just looks like she's in The Exploited or something. Is she dissing the industry that pays her mortgage and that she's just a cog within? I just found it unfocused and confusing. I am all for slipping things into these big budget extravaganzas but I just thought it was a wasted opportunity.
Archery one is being modified too. Drat.
Hmm. Lucky her I guess.
Stupid on her part to throw away any chance of being on live tv again for a childish gesture that really said nothing to most people. If she really wanted to get a message out, she definitely could have been more creative.
The bigger issue is that when you buy time on a meter it carries over to the next person if you pull away early. With these stations the time is just lost. The city makes more money off of them.
Not to say americans aren't fat and lazy and that Bayonne isn't a hellhole. I had to live there for a short spell. Blecch.
Arizona is such a bullshit place. I played shows there a few times and they always seemed to end in a fight in the parking lot or something. The whole damn state feels like it's on meth. Blecch.
The list in my mind began getting too long so I just cut it off.
I feel like jaded old fart saying this but zzzzzzzzzzzz. Grotesquery has become as much of a hipster staple as bacon and zombies.
And food trucks.
I just feel like it's some really well trodden ground at this point.
Senna should have been in the documentary category for sure. It's not just for F1 fans. It's a sad movie but so well done.
I probably don't want to read it. Oy.
Yikes. I don't want to judge the mindset of suicidal people too harshly because I know it's really complex, but there is something cowardly about making someone else responsible for your death. That story haunts me and I had nothing to do with it.
People don't talk much about the train operators and how responsible they must feel. Obviously they can't do anything to prevent this but it has to scar a person. That's some sad shit.
