I was glad I didn't have breakfast when I picked up the paper at the door this morning...I am shocked they printed it. Maybe not so...it's the Post after all.
Went to the actual show last night. Most difficult ticket to score. Worst part is watching parents cry when their kids don't make it. Katie's mom was a mess when they showed the video. Also, you can't scream WTF when people like Teflon Tim make it through once again.
@Liberace: I'm quite sure the press asked her the question and then twisted the answer. Seems they have nothing better to do these days.
Carol is such a class act and super smart...she always looks good and has had success at Elle because she is creative. Recently they wrote about her in the Sunday NY Times...at Vogue, everyone does Anna's thinking for her.
I always wondered how stores like Mandee's stayed in business...now I know. How much do you think she paid for that shirt someone took a sisscor to the back of?
Memo Pad just won't be the same any more...Congrat's for escaping the perils of CN
I have known Amanda for quite some time and she has even written articles for me in the past. She is incredibly talented and tenacious and it is a sad state of affairs when someone so creative doesn't get paid their worth after working so hard in their career...there are so many people like Amanda in publishing and journalism today that are in the same boat, some of which are being forced to take jobs they took back in HS. I applaud Amanda for being so honest and looking the camera's in the eye and stating the obvious. Way to go!
This company has been bloated for years with empty suits, arrogant management and business teams...they are finally doing what many other publishing houses did long before them...because it is so significantly drastic to their norm they look like fools...they are just trying to operate like the rest of the publishing community...lean and mean. Problem is they have to make changes to personnel as well to get the formula right and not just finances.
This is a company that prides it's on hiring lots of good looking emply, flash managment at the top to run their magazines. There are herds of smart and many not so smart people hired below them to make them look good at the top. It will take them months and months to week through all that crap. They should just close the magazines the rest of the world see's are completely vacuous, combine the two food magazines that hate each other and the some of the bridal books that reach the same damn bride...don't have to be an MBA suit to figure that out.
If you know Forbes...he had a high salary and it didn't matter how great he was it didn't fit into their P&L...he was just another Faberge egg at the end of the day.
NY Post headlines next week will read she has secretly given birth to another one of Michael Jackson's children and wants to move to Neverland. She will also go head to head with Debbie Rowe for custody of Paris and Prince.
Lori was fired from her last 2 jobs..let's see how long this lasts
If you read the book you would be smiling too! Cut the guy slack he's smiling cause he lost a few lbs.
You obviously haven't read SELF...if you think exercise and eating well is only for upper crust women then you need to think again. They do well because they are the most down to earth mag in the whole CN bunch!
They have just cast people aside through this recession like used pieces of garbage. Then they make them fight for their severance, benefits, vacation pay, etc...so much for any sense of human kindness, but that's why they are called NASTY.
If you love food, love to cook and want information, Saveur is the only magazine that you should read! It gives people with a brain something to read beyond how to make a ham sandwich and a brownie. March's is way cool. Never knew there were 9 varieties of artichokes and 16 ways to cook them, quick and easy. No one gives that info.
I too worked with Mitch and he is one of the most creative people in Publishing. Many of the executives at the top of CN can't lay claim to that
All their books are failing in their respective categories. Once leaders in the magazine industry, this archaic companies flaws are finally showing through. Bet they fold a bunch more magazines in the next couple of months. If they are smart. But that still remains to be seen.
They often keep those who make great TV drama and not necessarily great food. Leah hasn't been able to debone a fish since she got there
For years if CN has had a problem they throw money at it and now they can't because they are watching it. The magazines are over staffed and clunky and trip over themselves and only a few of their top management running management strategic...the rest are cute woman or slick guys. They made to look good by huge teams below them that trip over each other...doesn't work anymore and is catching up...
