I'm a black person who was born the shade of what my mom liked to call "a lemon cookie" and now I am Jay-Z's shade, so maybe it depends on the person, but in my family I can only remember 1 newborn who was a darker shade at birth.
You have posted pictures of the woman who is being raped---and qualifying it as acceptable because nothing about her pictures is 'identifying' her.
I have been here for several years, and been starred for two or three years. I am also a survivor of sexual assault. This website used to be my wonderful 'post-sassy magazine' goto, but just like another poster on this thread, I am also finished here.
Couldn't you have posted this story without any pictures of this woman? When I testified in my rape case, the witness stand was next to some (open) window blinds, and I came home to see that several local news station were reporting the story with video of my unblurred face (taken through the blinds from the parking lot) i am feeling the same amount of disgust with this. This used to be an amazing site.
I'm surprised to see this article on Jezebel. I don't think it is possible to sit back as an audience and figure out if someone was abused, as I was reading this, I looked up to double check that I wasn't on Gawker.

It doesn't really seem fair to doubt her allegations. None of us were there. Russell's ex-wives also claimed some physical abuse at different times in their relationships (please correct me if I am wrong on that) and he admitted to shoving her (he said this in an interview with People or US magazine or something like that) when things got heated and blamed it on the stress of the show (several months before he died).

The Housewives have the good and bad fortune of being seen like cartoon characters, and this kind of storyline was much too heavy for this show, and handled (by Bravo) really poorly. And this was the re-edited season to be sensitive to Russell's death. I can't imagine what it looked like before they recut. I'm in it for the Turtle Time and the Gretchen Christine Beaute products, domestic violence and drug addiction (Kim) are just not a good match for this show.

I actually use it every day for at least several hours, but I'm a student who commutes on metro quite a bit. Still, I use it for so many things in a day, it is ipod, email, netflix, internet, pdf reading and downloading for school research, etc etc...and angry birds ;)
I don't know how much I would use it if I was in a 9-5 job, driving to and from work and not doing any academic work.
Why is a therapist disclosing information about his/her clients on a blog? This isn't ethical.
I thought I was clicking on some kind of expose article about frozen food. But these just look like regular frozen dinners? If I am supposed to be disgusted, I just don't get it. My only problem with Lean cuisines is that they don't really have enough calories in them to make a normal meal, and it is very easy to stay under a low amount of calories by eating them exclusively.
Smart ones are kind of icky, but vaginal discharge isn't really an accurate sauce description.
That may not be accurate---I thought she gave an interview where she mentioned counseling? The family seems to be doing everything they can to help her --- they seem very committed to helping her and she looks like she is healing.
Keynote is great, but Pages is just junk on iPad. With all of thing things my ipad can do, Apple cannot create a word processor program that can handle endnotes or footnotes? I'm really surprised that Microsoft hasn't developed Word for iPad, a college student can't do academic writing on any app that I've come across so far.
My orange tabby got into a box of pancake mix while I was at work and got it all over my apartment. I didn't realize it until I was sitting by myself and heard someone sneeze. He sneezed just like a person! With his face covered in pancake mix.
The housewives ruined Bravo. And I am a Housewives junkie who will watch ANY city they put in front of me, but I'd forgotten about why they are named "Bravo" theater, the arts, etc. There is an amazing Arts network on my local tv (and I think on local stations throughout the country I am in Dc and I know that my sister gets it in NY and my parents get it in Philly) that plays amazing 5 to 10 minute clips of various performances and old movie clips. Opera, dance, monologues, etc. It is fantastic. Turner classic movies is another fabulous station. Poor PBS. I Had piano lessons and stuff like that when I was little, but I never went to summer camp and didn't get to be in daycare or pre-k so pbs tv shows were a huge part of my growing up, and not just the kid shows, but the cooking shows and even This Old House. We watched tons of PBS.
Someone should figure out how long the military could operate on the amount saved if the gov't pulls PBS' funding (15 seconds, perhaps?) and then figure out how long PBS could run on the military's current budget. Ha!
In the early 80s A+E played complete Ballets and BBC programming while they tried to operate commercial free. When was the last ti e they actually had any arts related programming? It would be awful to see that happen to PBS (the 20 minute Elmo's world trainwreck in Sesame Street is bad enough already)
Yes, although I can't really figure out why she is there. It is like watching an 80s sitcom with spin off characters wandering around in the background.
It is a proquest research database. The Library of Congress has it too!
Thank you for this! I am in DC and I spend way too much on solution at CVS (where at least the money goes towards earning extrabucks) on my way to columbia heights this week!
Are you familiar with his politics? I ask because he is completely 100% against gays serving openly in the military, and that commercial presents it as this"awful terrible thing happening in this country" he says something lke "you don't have to go to church every sunday to know that something is wrong when gays can serve in the military BUT the good wonderful christian children can't celebrate christmas." There is a whole lot of bigoted stuff in that ad.
I thought that this scene was awesome--- because in all of the lawsuits that are sure to follow the shoe company attorneys don't even have to scan through their own shoe catalog and try toprove that Adrienne owned the shoe. They just have to watch this scene. Didn't the Loubatin (sorry if I'm not spelling that correctly, I'm not really a shoe person) company try to sue another company that used red soles? I cannot imagine that the 1500 dollar premium shoe of the Maloof line---which looks almost exactly like one of those Loubatin designs will stay under that company's radar. If it was a cheap paylesspricepoint, they probably wouldn't care, but a 1,500 dollar shoe customer could have possibly been one of their customers, so they could lose some sales on this copycat style.
I wish they had started in elementary school, teaching the anatomy and and discussing sexual assault . My parents did not discuss this with us at home, and when I was assaulted at 10 by a teacher, I really didn't have a clue about what was happening. This was the early 80s, prorbably a few years before any kind of info about assault information was widely passed along to kids. I do remember a useless 'stranger danger' and fingerprinting by the local police when I was 8 though. Stranger kidnapping (which was considerably a rare event) was all the rage at the time. Abington, pennsylvania's school district was pretty useless.
It is bad for employees who wanted to spend thanksgiving with their families, and their schedules were probably adjusted on other shifts that week at Target at least so their hours are around the same amount--- I'm a grad student who works retail part time (left real job so I could focus on school) and this lind of thing doesn't affect me because I work for a store that doesn't do these doorbuster kind of promos, but for people who live a few states away from their Thanksgiving dinner and now aren't able to go because they are working, I'm sure they wouldn't agree that the schedule 'isn't so bad.' retail means that you have to be available when everyone else is free to play, but the evening of a major holiday (to then work overnight???) is a little much to ask.
