During the late 1990s, the New York Press published an amazing takedown on Camhi's work for the VV, which climaxed with a menagerie of zoo animals screaming, "No!" at her. Can't find it online, but I've never forgotten it.
The media is Liberal to the extent that Liberalism is centrism (at least in democracies). The reach of an actual left-wing media in the USA is practically nil. Which is one of the reasons we're in such a mess these days: there's no language to discuss the current situation.
It appears that the show runners forgot that once you get greenlighted, you can throw out whatever idiotic idea you felt you needed to use to get the suits attention during your pitch.
Needless to say, we should also deny benefits to parents who buy underwear for their children. I mean, you don't really NEED underwear: it's totally wasteful. We could install cameras in the rooms of all the children of welfare recipients to make sure there's no cheating. I'm pretty sure Rick Scott has a concern that could install them for a reasonable rate...
