@complextinction: I don't see it. Remember that every offer is registered even if the pre-bidder went higher. I've bid multiple times without the top bid before and they all get counted. Sure, the 0 feedback (I see a guy with 0) isn't a great sign, but would all Apple fanboys necessarily have an eBay account? Time of writing, top bidder has 10, 4th before that has 161. Even if we guess there was some shilling, there's some legit bids there as well
Ryan, you're not a stupid person by all accounts, but this article does suggest otherwise. Can't you see a standard lets have an pretend fight to ramp up page views play in front of you? It's standard practice on tech blogs now, and an easy way to get extra page views. Hell, you fell for it.
One thing is for sure, that map was designed on a Linux machine. Greenland is what, 2-3x bigger than Australia, when in actual fact it's smaller.

As for a vote: Suse, although they all suck to a certain degree.

Owen,
we're obviously no longer on your reading list. Understandable, it must take hours to do those Twitter posts.

While I agree with you on the math, the stats come from the LA Times, not Jarvis. It's also not conceivable that premium geotargeted ads could reach that level, although as your boss, probably rightly points out, they're heading south this year. Jarvis' overall suggestion though is sound: print doesn't have a future: overheads are too high for return. You also then need to factor in the notion that some advertisers will spend more online with the paper once the print edition ends; how many is the obvious question, but the notion that some will isn't unfair.
What, he hasn't slept with the Valley's town bike Leah Culver yet? He really is THE outsider isn't he.
