Well, the brown rice yogurt bars I have been feeding my toddler definitely have this ingredient. Sorry for accidentally poisoning you with arsenic honey!
I'm not commenting on either side of this argument, but evolution can be random as well. Not every change is advantageous. Sometimes it is just associated with something advantageous. Like walking meant that women have more trouble in childbirth, and have to give birth to smaller babies that are dependent for much longer than other animals.
I remember in high school noticing that all my girlfriends and I were just bigger than our mothers - slightly taller and also more muscular. Our mothers were in high school in the early 60s and didn't really play sports at all.
I'm waiting for someone to translate that into English for me.
I've never run a marathon nor sustained a marriage of several decades, so I'm not sure about what.
Well, the last sentence was actually describing marathons, with only a general comparison to the highs and lows of marriage. I think some people end up justifying crappy relationships based on the notion that all relationships are hard work. A great marriage is not hard work; however, even a great marriage takes some effort at least to build up its strengths and patch up its weaknesses, and sustaining a mediocre marriage certainly can be hard.

I think the amount of effort it takes can depend on personality. It doesn't take any physical effort to say something nice as opposed to complain about your partner, but for some people it does take psychological effort particularly if you are already in a downward spiral of disdain.

Marriage is hard and many marriages fail. However for those that feel they are totally doomed my anecdotal experience is that my parents are still together, my grandparents were married 60 years, all my many cousins are in their 40s and 50s and still married, and only one of my college friends and one of my high school friends have gotten divorced. I'm only in my mid 30s, so I'm sure that will go up, but it certainly is not destined to fail in all cases. I think of it like a marathon. There is no reason why everyone should put themselves through it, but if you are willing to go through some intense suffering, there are big rewards too.
Exactly. Some non-profits have staff of 5,000 or more and offices in every state. CEO pay in the country is ridiculous, but sometimes you are competing with people who could be paid $10 million in the private sector. However, when it comes from donor money, once you get beyond $200K or so it does seem dubious.
I wish nylons with open-toed shoes were kosher because my feet tend to turn all sorts of weird purple and red colors, particularly when I am cold or standing up for a while.
Just for clarification for others, he was not convicted of anything, but this is based on the details in the application for a restraining order that she filed, rather than just rumor. However, I think she then withdrew the application. I don't remember.
Well, he did beat up his girlfriend pretty badly.
Just because Roman Polanski, Sean Penn and Charlie Sheen are also pieces of shit doesn't make Chris Brown not a piece of shit. I have a talent/taste double standard though. It is a lot easier for me never to watch Charlie Sheen in anything or listen to Chris Brown because I don't like their stuff. However, I'm not going to actively argue in any of their favor.
As a white person I confused by all of this skin and hair confusion. I'm guessing maybe a lot of Gawkerites haven't had kids yet? White babies have very white skin with little pigment, which is the same reason they are almost all born with blue eyes, some of which turn brown in the first year. Babies of all races tend to darken up. Lots of white babies are born with a crazy head of straight, dark hair which then falls out and is replaced by whatever their "real" hair is going to be.
No, you have to have over 50 employees. Thus, only a small percentage of employers are covered by FMLA, but because they are large and employ a lot of people, it ends up covering about 58% of people working in the US.
Just FYI on FMLA:

FMLA-covered establishments
Percent of Establishments 1995 Survey: 10.8%
Percent of Establishments 2000 Survey: 10.8%
Percent of Employees 1995 Survey: 59.5%
Percent of Employees 2000 Survey: 58.3%

Non-covered establishments
Percent of Establishments 1995 Survey: 89.2%
Percent of Establishments 2000 Survey: 89.2%
Percent of Employees 1995 Survey: 40.5%
Percent of Employees 2000 Survey: 41.7%

So, more than 40% of all employees are not covered by FMLA and have no legal right to maternity leave.

But many companies are not covered by FMLA.
That's what I remember from the piece too. "Those idiots like to hunt. What idiots." I'm not even a hunter but it rubbed me the wrong way,
That would still be impressive to me.
I think my only real celebrity sighting was when I ate lunch at the same restaurant as Aleksey Vayner in New Haven. Sadly my attempts to eavesdrop on his conversation were unsuccessful.
