Wow, just about everything that makes Facebook intolerable sometimes too distilled into that thread. I used to write a blog that attracted these kinds of readers and I was fine with that but the few times I'd post an unedited swear, I'd get this reaction. Because people are fucking stupid.
This explains just about everything anyone ever needs to know about this guy. I saw the hed and thought, "well of course he was." And I'm not slamming theater geeks in general--I was one. But the psychological landscape of many theater geeks--yeah. This makes total sense.
If I'd put in for one of the open blogging positions here I would have wanted my first post to be just like this. Also each subsequent post. Basically all my posts for Gawker would be versions of this.
I kind of want one of these auditionees to be like, "COME AT ME BRO," and remind us they can get our IP addresses and geographic location and will hunt us to the ends of the Earth and ultimately eat our faces off if they want. I'd read that person. But you're cool too, Danny.
You commenters who are so offended at the tone of this article haven't been around here long. This is par for the course on Gawker when it comes to what is actually serious news (6 people dying=serious news anytime). The last time I read a post here that struck an appropriate tone at all in relation to the news being covered was probably back when Foster Kamer was blogging on weekends. Gawker just doesn't do heavy all that well and probably never will.
Seriously, I'm with everyone wondering why they'd want this taken down, except perhaps because he's expressing very straightforward opinions and making no attempt at that "neutral" pose so many high-profile journalists lie about. This actually made me like him more than I already did.
If Seth wanted to file some kind of suit and his attorney traced the claim regarding his use of the N-word back to Gawker, that'd be bad enough, no matter what they've published regarding his dismissal here.
I have rarely been in stronger agreement with something written here than I am with your coining the phrase "post-pointless." It is true of this ridiculous Slate piece and the Internet in general. It's kind of a tough time to be a bored person looking for something remotely interesting to read online.
I feel weird admitting that even though I feel certain this man is probably pretty tough to take in person on a regular basis, his responses to Gawker have kind of made me like him, and I'm not even sure why. Maybe that he bothers? Of course, that could be a good reason to not like him, too, but he does smartass well. And I also get the feeling HamNo at least is just enjoying the whole thing.
