Zuck made a very bad call (under the influence of Elevation, which her brother-in-law runs) in hiring Sandberg. Reining in a company under adult supervision is difficult enough as it is, but when the adult supervision is ill-qualified for the task, the company faces a very real possibility of going down the toilet since it is such a critical transition. Sandberg really belongs in some East Coast based management consulting firm with her mediocre operational track record. And her buddy Elliot Schrage, while a nice guy, really belongs in some DC based public policy think tank. He is truly out of his depth running their platform.
Clicking through to the SFMOMA's press release, I found it hilarious (and quite relevant) that in writing her bio, her PR people chose to list all the mainstream publications they put her in, including such gems as Newsweek ("10 Tech Leaders of the Future"), Red Herring ("15 Women to Watch"), Business 2.0 ("Silicon Valley Dream Team"), and Fast Company. Perhaps it might sound impressive to the average layperson who is clueless about how those lists and puff pieces are actually put together.

And it looks like the SFMOMA's other appointment to its board is some corporate attorney from AT&T. What the SFMOMA is doing with a telecom regulator on its Board of Trustees is beyond me. I was never all that impressed with the SFMOMA, and I think i just lost a little more respect for it.

Zuckerberg ignored one of the cardinal rules of executive hiring with his Sandberg hire - when hiring a key exec, never hire one that is completely in bed with one of your VCs. It is usually a sure sign that they cannot stand on their own merit. I think FBers are unfortunately learning this lesson the hard way. The D6 chat was just terrible.
This would be the same Keith Rabois who yelled "Faggot, hope you die of AIDS!" at a Resident Fellow during his Stanford days and then later claimed it was a test of free speech to avoid any trouble. I don't find his argument where he is comparing Slide to highly successful media and entertainment companies where consumers or advertisers are actually willing to pay for the product very credible.
She has an awful sense of style, especially for someone who is in charge of UI design and usability. Of course, Google isn't exactly the pinnacle of design. And the whole campaign for West Coast WASP Queen is so ungoogly. I'm surprised someone from Google PR hasn't shut it down yet.
I was checking out Sacca's blog to figure out who this guy is since I have never heard of him, and I found this gem under his recommendation for a book about Bono:
"I find myself underlining this book as if I were in school. Friends tell me they aren't surprised by the parallels I keep encountering."
Mr. Boutin, it looks like you have some serious competition for the Silicon Valley person most resembling Bono!
Stoppelman's mafioso pics are in his Yelp profile. I figured he was making early Halloween preparations when I first saw them.
