A 40-year-old New York man was reportedly arrested and charged with a hate crime for allegedly attacking former L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling's ex-girlfriend V. Stiviano as she was leaving the Gansevoort Hotel in the Meatpacking District on Sunday.
Dominick Diorio was arrested on Tuesday, according to the New York Post and TMZ, and charged with third degree assault as a hate crime and harassment. Stiviano filed a police report Monday and identified Diorio in a lineup.
From the New York Post:
Diorio and a pal apparently recognized Stiviano — who is of black and Latino decent — from her involvement in the NBA race scandal, in which Sterling was forced to sell his basketball team after Stiviano recorded him making racist statements.
Diorio allegedly punched her in the face as he shouted racial slurs. She was not seriously hurt.
