Reese Witherspoon spent the years between 1999 and 2007 married to former soap star Ryan Phillippe, which is punishment enough for anyone. But as Reese reveals in a new interview with Charlie Rose to air Sunday, the years following 2007 were also bad for her, because of Ryan Phillippe.

She says that after winning an Oscar for her role in Walk the Line, "Phew, that was a tough year that followed. I got divorced the next year and I spent a few years just trying to feel better." Reese explains:

You know, you can't really be very creative when you feel like your brain is scrambled eggs. I was just kind of floundering career-wise cause I wasn't making things I was passionate about, I was just kinda working. It was really clear the audiences weren't responding to anything I was putting out there.

In 2008, Reese starred in Four Christmases, a movie about Vince Vaughn being annoying. In 2010, she performed the role of "Lisa" in How Do You Know, which I didn't see. In 2012, she anchored the confusingly violent rom com This Means War. That same year, the New Yorker negged her. She tells Rose:

I thought I was reading a profile on another actor, and somewhere at the end it said, you know, the people who are washed up, and at the end it included me, Tom Hanks, Mel Gibson. It really hurt my feelings, really hurt my feelings.

Throughout those years, Ryan Phillippe did [??] so, whatever girl, you still won.

Now, Reese feels she's poised for a comeback with Wild, which, best of luck. The most important thing is that she's happy.
