South Korean Man's Suicide Jump Kills Young Girl

A suicidal man in South Korea jumped to his death on Friday, falling on a five-year-old girl as she was walking with her parents, killing her.

The unidentified 39-year-old man died immediately on impact after he jumped from the 11th story of a building in the city of Busan. The girl died a short time later.

Witnesses saw the man jumping from the building just as the young girl was exiting the same apartment building with her parents. There wasn't suicide note left in his apartment, but officials believe there was no foul play.

South Korea has the highest suicide rate in the developed world, and suicide is the leading cause of death among South Korean under forty. The South Korean government has been struggling for years to discourage the act after a number of suicides by several celebrities and politicians.
