    Bullshit, she was very reluctant to pitch in on any bailout strategies. She's protecting her agency at the expense of the public and must go.

    Okay guys: two things

    1. Not a team player and yet she is a Republican who Barney Frank recommended for Geithner's job

    2. Not a team player because she is more focused on her "own agency" than "the financial system as a whole" -- which, uh, wouldn't you know, happens to be pretty much all regulated by her own agency since investment banks blew themselves up.

    Since when do you have to be a banker to regulate the banking industry?

    @lawyergay: If we let a non banker regulate the banking industry, pretty soon people will want to marry their sheep. It was in the bible or something.

    @tammyfey: She would really help her cause by maybe posting some risque photos of herself blogging, I mean, um, regulating and stuff.

    I like her but...

    She is not a real Maverick. Real Mavericks are from Texas and have a last name that begins with M and ends with averick.

    she may, however, be a maverick.

    @hypocriteoath: and No, that was not directed at Pareene. I'm just tired of seeing maverick with an upper case M when not talking about the family last name from which the word is derived.

    @hypocriteoath: If by "family last name" you mean "sports franchise"…

    @Moe: From Webster's:

    Etymology: Samuel A. Maverick died 1870

    American pioneer who did not brand his calves

    @hypocriteoath: I think the Top Gun character should still qualify, though.

    @Moff: yeah, but her point still stands, you wouldn't lowercase the name of a sports franchise just because none of that family is on the team! unless you are me, because i never capitalize anything.

    @allyzay: OK, yes, you should capitalize it when it refers to one or more members of the family, to one or more members of the sports franchise, and to the Top Gun character. I'm about to put that in the style guide, so if anyone has any objections, please speak up now.
