I can say he's the only member of Congress I've actually seen naked. He went to same gym I did (during the early 90's) and we passed each other in tyhe locker room. The next morning I heard on the radio he had a heart attack shortly thereafter (!)

OMG I really did not think I was a Benoit fan but we are in agreement Barney Frank's BF looks like Todd Palin!!! Dammit, editors. They also took out my "not here to make friends" line. Sigh.

Megan is part-time? I really loved her when she was Anonymous Lobbyist at Wonkette.

Moe made me nervous at Jezebel. I'm too old for the baring-of-soul kind of writing she favored. I couldn't tell if her demons were what made her good...or kept her from being amazing. She's clearly very, very smart...but also kind of an on-line version of a car crash. I'd want to stop reading, but couldn't.

In any case, the Frank article is terrific.

I had a serious love/hate relationship with Moe's writing on Gawker (although I didn't hate so much that I wouldn't welcome her back) but that magazine piece gets nothing but love. Also, I want Barney Frank to be my gay uncle.

I have a question about Moe that, perhaps, someone knows the answer to.

OK, So Moe was one of the original editors at Jezebel (I think?) and from what I understand, one of the Jezebel readers' favorite writers (please correct me if I am wrong). So she leaves for greener pastures -- at first Radar, then ultimately Gawker -- then is let go from Gawker and now does not have a steady gig.

My question: If she would have not left Jezebel, would she still be there today? Why not let her have her old job back instead of letting her go outright because wouldn't the readers over there love to see her again? Unless, of course, she didn't want to go back which I understand.

Sorry, I usually dont get caught up in the comings and goings around here (except for Ian!!! Also, Sheila's bar stories will be missed) but I never understood how that worked.

@MissNormaDesmond: I forgot what it was like to be talked about online as if I was a fictional character! I guess I don't come back much, but I'm thankful for the link and everyone with an attention span sufficient to muddle through that piece, and while I am here I might as well say that the Lizz Winstead thing is still too absurd, on too many levels, for me to ever adequately address. When it happened I was reading Armies of the Night, which almost inspired me to try to rip it off, but Mailer was a lot more interested in himself and what happened to him than I could ever be (and he doesn't get a period.) I doubt it had anything to do with getting fired. And to that end, I miss working with a lot of Gawker Media people, but it's a job people should probably only do 3 or 4 days a week, switching around beats more often than we were wont, because it's seriously desensitizing.

And Cassandra, I know you are out there, well UMYEAH I have problems "respecting" my body. But if you're concerned -- and as a taxpayer I guess you're entitled to be, though it's not like I was just laid off by General Motors -- I have drastically cut down on the smoking I do when I'm not completely shitfaced and stopped taking Tylenol for hangovers. You're welcome.

You, like him, have a career with a public component. If the assumption is supposed to be that you're potentially a part of any conversation about you anywhere on the Internet at any time, you'll be needing to stock up on the No-Doz.

I said the Winstead thing was excruciating because I actually had some sympathy for you. It was a trainwreck. We probably disagree about a lot of things to a very large extent, and maybe if we met I would end up thinking you were an idiot (and you me), who knows, but I'm not going to make a decision based on that video.

I give Frank a lot of credit for knocking McCain senseless during the whole meltdown/bailout fiasco. Obama was a little hesitatnt, but I thought Frank really did some great political manuevering (and had some genuinely witty comments) during the whole debacle (which McCain never really recovered from).
