Best thing about this - all these so-called "birthers" are the same people who are ranting & raving about the "illegals" sneaking across the border to have babies & drain the welfare system. Apparently, if those "illegals" were sailing to Hawaii all those babies wouldn't be Americans?

Let's go over this one more time:
1) Born in the US = American citizen (that includes Hawaii)
2) Born on an American Military Base (like John McCain) = American citizen
3) Born anywhere in the world with at least one parent that is a legal citizen of the US = American citizen.

@Sev: The issue with them (I think) isn't whether or not he's an American citizen, it's whether he's a "natural-born" American citizen. McCain isn't natural-born (SHOCK) but he's still a citizen. Someone born in Spain to American parents isn't natural-born. So on, so forth, etc etc etc.

@jgarfink: Sure they are. They were born an American citizen. If your mother's American, you're an American citizen. Both McCain and Obama are natural born American citizens. They didn't become American citizens by naturalization, they were born citizens.

@Conchie Birdie: Yes, but he qualifies as a natural-born citizen (i.e., eligible to be President). US Code Title 8 Chapter 12 Subchapter III Part I Section 1401:

The following shall be nationals and citizens of the United States at birth:
...
(c) a person born outside of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents both of whom are citizens of the United States and one of whom has had a residence in the United States or one of its outlying possessions, prior to the birth of such person;

ETA: As mentioned above, US military base = US jurisdiction, so that's where McCain would fall.

@Mikeshardlemon: It was settled after Senate and legal review that Mr. McCain was deemed a "natural-born citizen". The reason I brought this up, though, is the fact that these conspiracy freaks would never doubt McCain's citizenship. Not the best retort I guess, I just wanted to note it.

I can't believe CNN actually treated this piece of garbage like real news. This is absolutely horseshit. Any person born to a parent who is a US Citizen at the person's birth is automatically a US citizen. Just one parent will do. The other parent could be from Nebula 932 or they could have conceived on USS Enterprise and it wouldn't have made a damn difference. CNN is really no better than Fox News.
