And to the conservatives on this site, I can only say thank you once again for demonstrating the intellectual laziness that undermines your "movement" at every turn. Yes, babies, the big bad MSM is skew liberal. Whatever lies comfort your fevered, ragey, ill-informed little brains, I suppose.

This is such a joke. The illusion that there is any difference between these two gangs of thieves--and the concommitant rah-rah sis-boom-bah-ing for each side just serves to help both gangs raise money from the rubes who believe that either side is motivated to stop the game, which consists entirely of taking money from you and me and giving it to them and their friends.

Rush Limbaugh isn't the problem; it's his listeners, who illustrate daily how pathetic our education system really is.

As much as yall may hate Rush and as much as I may not agree with everything he says, he has a right to speak.

This is a 1st amendment issue. If you don;t like him don't tune it it's that simple.

    FREEDOM OF SPEECH people.

@TorrentFreak: Even if the fairness doctrine were reinstituted, how would it impinge on Mr. Limbaugh's right to free speech? Nothing would require the stations carrying him to drop him. The government would certainly not be censoring him, even if stations did drop his show, since, as we learned with Imus, not one word in the Constitution guarantees particular citizens highly paying media jobs.

    Freedom of commerce, dimwit.

I occasionally listen to an online clip of the first few minutes, because I'm fascinated (in a horrified way) at how Limbaugh's monologues ramble on, without the apparent need to take a breath on his part.

I think the Fairness Doctrine should simply be you are not allowed on the air if your head is at least twice the size of the president's head.

If I want to live in a country where the government can dictate what programming the media has to broadcast, I'll move to China or North Korea.

    Let's recap, shall we?

    State controlled media

Government control of banks and manufacturing (bailouts)

Redistribution of wealth (Obama campaign promise)

Indentured service to the country (Michelle Obama promise)

Get your sickles and stars shined up, folks.

Does this mean that the television networks and every major city newspaper will now have to present non-liberal points of view? Interesting how it's only a "problem" that must be addressed with the heavy hand of government coercion in the one media form dominated by conservatives.

Also, when the Speaker of the House is calling for something it's hardly "crazy" to think that it could happen.

@xmonkeydr: ugh god grow up, anyone with eyes in their head can tell that 80% of televised newscasts are about the weather, with an additional 5% about the weather. there is no bias or slant to be found on broadcast news. the cable news corps are pretty evenly split, and for every "liberal" paper you can point to a wall street journal.

seriously the victimization bullshit coming from both sides of this issue is sickening. all of your idiot viewpoints are represented equally, trust me.

You way underestimate how many Democrats and affiliated groups like NOW want to impose this (Nancy Pelosi anyone? Just the Speaker of the House). It may be under the guise of "local control" or something, but liberals want to muzzle speech; Charles Schumer equated regulating conservative speech to regulating pornography (which I realize that the people who hurl insults at me when I post here think is what Rush Limbaugh is). Now Stabenow. These are not fringe characters.

@Preopsician: No, we hurl insults at you because you're oblivious. If I recall correctly, you're the same person who thought, because some were making fun of Ann Coulter and calling her names, we were "afraid" of her. What is it with some Republicans and their obsession with fear-inducing and war-mongering?

Would the fairness doctrine force us to teach Republicans how to use the internet? 'Cause frankly I'm fine with dominating that medium while they claim AM radio. Shit, they can also have a monopoly on telegram and carrier pigeon technology if they want.

I honestly don't know how any self-respecting liberal could support this. It's exactly the sort of heavy-handed unconstitutional meddling that they (rightfully) accuse Republicans of doing.
