Oh, by the way, new rule I decided this morning for anyone who's looking: feel free to crit the points ranking or argue the nature of the way the couples were studied. But: give Ms. Nefler any of the we-don't-like-this shit you fuckers give me, and I will ban you with little to no discretion.
I suppose it might have been implicit in your +2 points award, but if not, you neglected to give them an extra point for not only being married by the bride's father the priest, but also by an *Episcopal* priest.
@Hockeymom: Lutheran priests can be married, as can Eastern Catholic priests. Also, I think that if a Roman Catholic priest is married before he enters the seminary, that he is permitted to remain married.
I am the least snobby person on the planet--I met my husband at Coney Island High on St. Mark's Place and I got married in an Italian joint in the Paulus Hook section of Jersey City--but there is no excuse EVER to get marred in flip-flops.
Methinks these two folks in recovery may not have had the big bucks to buy fancy shoes for their nuptials. I realize that today's subjects/writer have pedigrees and tasteful cash up the wazoo, but most of us hoi polloi, recovered and not, are feeling the affects of our soured economy. I hope these two can make it, especially for the sake of their sweet-faced girl. I know I'm being unironic, but this Yale M.A. grad (who thinks New Haven is a depressing hole) thinks their story is a big ole breath of fresh air.
@JeanneNarea: Yes, I don't really care about fancy overpriced wedding shoes, I know we're in a recession, etc., but "shoes" is the key word here: shoes, not flipflops--which render you practically barefoot. Seeing as she's also pregnant, it's not such a cute combo, IMHO.
You sure the two guys (groomsmen? bouncers?) in the background of the addict wedding didn't emerge straight out of The Big Lebowski? Definitely saw one of them back in 'Nam.
Re: your friend's wedding. "Roberto Lupo Talamo Atenolfi Brancaccio"?! GOD. DAMN. I noticed they took the name "Talamo." Was that a conscious matter of choice, looking down the name lineup and going, yeah, we're gonna take #3/5.
Amanda Congdon added me on Twitter and I thought it was cause she loved me. Then I realized she's just adding all 4000 people following her, spam or no spam. Maybe someone will tweet her an acting job?

Actually though, both couples were wed in accordance with the genteel Episcopalian faith. It's a push!

I've been away from the Catholic church for a while, but isn't that against priest rule #1?
