    I used to have a bad habit of prefacing statement with disclaimers such as "I don't mean to be rude" or "I gotta be honest with you". This always sets the scene for a bold, possibly insulting statement. I was called on my shit too many times, and I put this verbal seat belt to rest. But Just Sayin' is neither clever nor very useful.

    I'm going to say it came from us, the blacks.


    I've heard my mother and father use that phrase ALL OF MY LIFE and have heard my grandmother use it too.


    It was always used during a disagreement and came after a long diatribe on what's wrong with the other person.


    It was short for "I'm just saying the truth."


    I think it has since been corrupted.
