Eric Holder Calls US "Nation of Cowards"
A Gay Liberal New York Jew Rests Easy
A gay liberal New York Jew's response to the Iowa caucuses

Obviously it is a horrid, hateful word, but maybe part of the problem is precisely that we have labeled it as "unspeakable"-- unless you're black, that is. Maybe I misunderstood, but I wonder if this is part of what Holder is talking about... On some level we do talk a lot about race, but are we really talking about it, or AROUND it? Sometimes we try to be so damn polite about it that we forget to be honest and frank, and really, how do you make progress if everyone is just trying to keep up appearances?
This same colleague thought my reluctance to say the word was pretty silly, and she made a good point-- that though most people might not say it anymore, they still can say something with the same underlying racism, which ultimately, is the big picture that we miss when we get so hyper-focused on the superficial appearance of things.

I disagree with Attorney General Holder that there is not enough talk about racism. I believe that there is so much talk of it that issues unrelated to race often become subordinated to a discussion about just that. I would cite the example of President Obama's speech about Jeremiah Wright. The widespread criticism of Wright was that he was anti-American not that he was anti-White. Yet Mr. Obama gave a speech about race because we don't ever seem to be able to get away from labels.
I don't ever want to see things like homophobia, racism, anti-Semitism, sexism, religious persecution, etc. ignored. I know that they are still alive and present, but how do we move forward when we can't bury the associated labels and address the real issues. Incidentally, the order of my listing has nothing to do with how I rank my concerns.
I was pleased that Mr. Obama ran an honorable campaign and didn't take the bait of a racial discussion that was laid out for him time and again other than on that occasion.

Am interesting quote from TFA: "Nobody wants to be considered a coward. We've learned to get along by exclusion and silence. We need to talk about it. People need to feel comfortable saying the wrong things," said Shelton.
Given the reflexive nature of the "racist" gotcha, that seems kind of unlikely, doesn't it?

Lou Dobbs used to join in, but the drink has left him in permanent third place.

(ii) Jonah Goldberg is a doucher.
(iii) When are we, as a nation, ever going to have the cojones to talk about a really serious issue: masturbation? and
(iv) Jonah Goldberg is a cowardly doucher that wanks four or five times a day when he isn't spouting off his shit-filled pie hole.
